Hampshire Landscapes

The beautiful countryside we explore — from the chalk downland of the South Downs to the ancient woodland of the New Forest.

South Downs

The South Downs National Park is on our doorstep — sweeping chalk downland with panoramic views across Hampshire and Sussex. We regularly walk from Winchester, exploring ancient drove roads, long-distance paths and remote downland villages.

River Valleys

The Itchen and Test are two of England's finest chalk streams. Walking along their banks — through water meadows, cress beds and riverside villages — is a quintessential Hampshire experience.

The New Forest

One of England's oldest and most atmospheric landscapes, the New Forest is home to ancient woodland, open heathland and free-roaming ponies. Just 20 miles from Winchester.

Winchester and Beyond

Winchester itself offers wonderful walking — from the Iron Age hill fort at St Catherine's Hill to the water meadows along the Itchen. We also venture into Wiltshire, Dorset and Berkshire.
